Dan has enjoyed over 20 years working in higher education and outdoor recreation in Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania. He has completed degrees from Penn State University (BS), Minnesota State University (MS), and his MBA at Ohio University. Dan has spent most of his career helping students, employees, and community members to work together better and enjoys watching groups evolve as they identify and blend their individual talents to create an effective team. Dan is currently working as a community coach assisting volunteers to build support networks that will help their local businesses grow and thrive. After many years working in outdoor education, a recent realization for Dan was that in community development work, art and culture are effective entry points to sparking movement towards a future that a community is seeking. Talk of economic development and policy can be too abstract to engage stakeholders but arts and culture are very felt and understood by all that live in any community.
